Replacing this blog with a new one!
Posted: December 15, 2023 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: ericborg.org Leave a commentThough I’ve had this Physical Ethics blog for almost exactly a decade, I’ve mainly kept it as a repository for past writings rather than fresh new posts. Nevertheless I’d say that through blogging I’ve done a tremendous amount of thinking and growing over these ten years, and generally displayed by the commentary I’ve left at the blogs of others. Below I leave the beginnings to those threads in general.
I was introduced to the fun of blogging in January 2014 at a wonderful site called Conscious Entities. By July 2015 I began to frequent Scientia Salon from Massimo Pigliucci, though by August he switched to Footnotes to Plato. Then in December 2018 he went to a Patreon site, which probably didn’t do well because monetary subscriptions were required. I did however learn a great deal at his blogs over those four years.
Since fall of 2016 I’ve probably done twice as much blogging at SelfAwarePatterns as opposed to all else combined! I must thank Mike Smith strongly for this. (And certainly for putting up with me as politely as he has!) Hopefully he’ll continue blogging to the very end just as I hope to. Then there’s The Splintered Mind from Eric Schwitzgebel. He’s at least given me a hope of actually being able to improve academia, whether warranted or not. I also consider Broad Speculations from Jim Cross important to my development given my current hope that the validation of consciousness as a neuron produced electromagnetic field might incite an avalanche from which to finally fix our pathetic mental and behavioral sciences.
